“Art is the concrete representation of our most subtle feelings.”
- Agnes Martin
“Everyone has their own ideal of beauty, and what is pleasurable to them, so successful art can be as diverse as people themselves.”
I currently live in a small town in Northern New Mexico. I worked as an artist in the casino gaming industry for ten years before leaving to pursue fine art full-time in 2023. I earned a BFA degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2012. Prior to that, I studied in a private atelier setting under artist, Bart McCoy, for two years. With him, I learned traditional realism drawing and painting techniques that have roots tracing back to Flemish masters. In 2021, I was mentored by Tyler Berry in classical realism practices and methods.
My current body of work explores emotion portrayed as narratives. My painting, Lacrymosa, is part of this series. Using personal and traditional symbolism, I give generally complex feelings tangible representation. I draw inspiration for this work from my own life. Ultimately, I want to connect with people through shared experiences that we may not have words for, but by chasing the beauty in all aspects of what it means to be human, we can feel less alone.
